When Tracey first came to see me, she was struggling with alternating diarrhoea and constipation, and tummy pain. Not only that, but she had major anxiety around her IBS symptoms, what to eat, and what might happen if she ate something that didn’t agree with her.
She’d done some research online and tried taking a few supplements, going gluten-free, and dabbled with the low FODMAP diet – all with limited success. And she was struggling to cut through all the conflicting info out there.
Tracey had a feeling her symptoms were related to her fluctuating hormones (thanks: peri-menopause), but her doctor and an NHS dietitian laughed at her when she suggested this could be connected to her gut issues. How f*cking rude.
Thankfully, she didn’t give up!
Tracey found me in November and I reassured her that she wasn’t a) alone or b) going mad. So firstly, I helped her understand how her digestive system works and showed her how to properly identify what is triggering her symptoms so she could get on top of her health anxiety.
And I’ve spent the last two months helping her implement small, sustainable changes to her diet and lifestyle with easy-to-follow guides on how to actually put everything into practice.
Here’s how Tracey is doing now:
“My almost-constant symptoms have reduced significantly and I’m eating really well, almost entirely unrestrictedly and confident that it’s the right fuel for my body. When I have flare-ups I feel educated enough to be able to recognise my own personal triggers, be that an ingredient or hormone cycle. This alone has reduced my anxiety dramatically. I look well, I’m getting leaner, and my mood swings have calmed down.”
“You’ve been a dream, Claire. I felt I could be open and honest about my symptoms, with little embarrassment. I didn’t feel judged and I have enjoyed being about to ask questions, and get advice, both during our sessions and via the app. You’ve also been honest with me and made me feel understood and supported…. you’ve done wonders for my mental health!!”
If you’ve been considering working with me, Tracey wants you to know one last thing:
“Claire cuts through all the confusing and contradictory info and addresses the issue directly. She really understood what I experience and I’ve been given easy to follow tips and advice that have actually made a huge difference to me.”
